Bridge of Earn, Abernethy, Glenfarg

KINROSS-SHIRE has an identity distinct from Perthshire, with Kinross and Milnathort separated by just a mile.
The bulk of the countys facilities are concentrated on fast-expanding Kinross, with the Loch Leven Community Campus and High School at the heart of the community.
Much of the recent new-build developments have been aimed at buyers commuting to Edinburgh via the nearby M90 but there is a diverse range of property in and around the town. Potentially, an additional 500-plus homes could emerge to meet anticipated demand by 2028.
There is no shortage of local amenities in terms of shops, bars and restaurants. Golf and curling are among the sporting offerings.
The town developed on the banks of Loch Leven, famed for the island castle which held Mary Queen of Scots captive, and the lochside RSPB Vane Farm Nature Reserve is a must-visit for locals and visitors alike.
The circular 12-mile heritage trail is another asset which is perfect for lovers of the great outdoors.
As the name suggests, Bridge of Earn was a traditional river crossing point, with a bridge in place since at least the early years of the 14th Century.
The village was a staging post on the Edinburgh to Perth route and in recent decades it has grown as a popular dormitory town within easy reach of the Fair City.
Independent school Kilgraston is located on the outskirts of the village.
The former hospital site and nearby farmland at Oudenarde has long been identified for major development.
The two-mile stretch of the Baiglie Straight leads towards historic Abernethy and Newburgh and the old road to the by-passed and quiet village of Glenfarg. These communities have undergone peripheral expansion in recent years.
At the heart of Abernethy is a 73-foot Round Tower which may date back to the 11th or even 9th Century. The village, like Newburgh, is on the border between Perth and Kinross and Fife, and each is blessed with a range of services.
